Long-distance, high-speed tires focus on low rolling resistance. By optimizing the tread compound and structure, they reduce energy loss during driving, helping trucks achieve lower fuel consumption on long-distance hauls. Some high-end products can even achieve fuel savings of 1-2 liters per 100 kilometers.
Short-distance, heavy-duty tires, with their core high-strength carcass and deeper tread, withstand the wear and tear of frequent starts and stops, making them suitable for urban transport of heavy goods such as construction materials and coal. Off-road tires feature large, blocky treads with wider tread clearances, providing strong grip on muddy and gravel roads. They are commonly used in unpaved operations such as mining and infrastructure construction.
When selecting truck tires, it's important to comprehensively consider the hauling scenario, load requirements, and road conditions. First, consider the tire's load index and speed rating. The load index represents the maximum load capacity of a single tire. For example, a load index of 150 corresponds to a maximum load of 3.5 tons. Choose a suitable model based on the truck's rated load capacity.
The speed rating determines the tire's safe operating speed. For long-distance transport, prioritize tires rated H (up to 190 km/h) and above.
Secondly, tread hardness is also a key consideration. Tires with a hardness of 65-70 Shore A offer better wear resistance and are suitable for high-frequency transport. Tires with lower hardness offer greater comfort and are suitable for transporting bumpy goods, such as cold chain transport.
Daily maintenance is crucial to extending the life of truck tires. Tire pressure is a key factor affecting tire life. Underinflation leads to excessive wear on the sides of the tread, increasing the risk of blowouts. Overinflation increases wear in the center of the tread and reduces grip. It's recommended to check tire pressure weekly and adjust it dynamically based on the load weight. When unladen, the pressure can be slightly lower, but when fully loaded, it should be increased to the upper limit of the standard.
Additionally, regular tire rotation (every 10,000-20,000 kilometers) can balance tread wear and avoid excessive wear on one side. Promptly removing stones and metal debris from the tread prevents foreign objects from piercing the tire carcass and reduces the chance of tire damage.
With the development of the logistics industry, truck tires are also upgrading towards intelligent and green features. Some brands have introduced smart tires with built-in sensors that monitor tire pressure, temperature, and wear in real time, alerting drivers via onboard systems for timely maintenance. Environmentally friendly tires utilize bio-based rubber materials, ensuring performance while reducing carbon emissions, in line with current "dual carbon" policy requirements.

Choosing the right tire model and performing routine maintenance are crucial measures to ensure transportation safety and reduce operating costs.
