Michelin, Continental, Hankook and Goodyear flagship tires compete head-on in performance!
The flagship tire products that represent the image of the tire brand must be loud and strong. Foreign media have compared the performance of the popular flagship tires on the market, including the German Continental MaxContact MC7, Michelin Pilot Sport 5, Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 and other flagship new products.
The tire specification for the evaluation is 235/45R18 and the evaluation vehicle is Audi SQ2.
01 Dry braking
In terms of dry braking, the German Continental MaxContact MC7 leads with a braking distance of 34 meters, only 1 meter shorter than the 35 meters of the Michelin Pilot Sport 5. The lengths of the Hankook iON evo and Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 are 35.2 meters and 35.5 meters respectively. The results are also very good.
02Dry lap time
In the dry lap time, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 leads with a lap time of 53.64 seconds, 0.15 seconds ahead of the German Continental MaxContact MC7 and 0.2 seconds ahead of the Hankook iON evo. The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 is 1.06 seconds behind with 54.7 seconds, and the Tongyiou Proxes TR1 is further behind with 56.05 seconds. In dry handling, the less time the better, so it is also extremely challenging for the cooperation between the tire and the driver.
03Wet braking
In terms of wet braking, the German Continental MaxContact MC7 leads with a braking distance of 29.3 meters, followed by the Hankook iON evo with 30.1 meters, a difference of 0.8 meters. The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 stopped at 30.3 meters, just 1 meter behind the leader, while the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 was slightly later at 31.5 meters. The gap was even larger for the Proxes TR1 at 35.6 meters, more than 8 meters behind the first place, which is significant on a wet road.
04 Wet lap time
In terms of wet lap time, the Continental MaxContact MC7 led with a lap time of 80.05 seconds. The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 was only 0.88 seconds slower at 80.93 seconds, and the Hankook iON evo was close behind at 81.81 seconds, 1.76 seconds behind. The Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 was 2.64 seconds behind the leader at 82.69 seconds. The delay of the Tongyiou Proxes TR1 was more obvious, 4 seconds slower at 84.05 seconds.
05 Straight-line hydroplaning
In the hydroplaning test, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 led at 78.1 km/h, followed by the Hankook iON evo, the German Continental MaxContact MC7 and the Goodyear Eagle F1, all of which performed very well, with the tires draining water cleanly and keeping the tires in the best condition at all times.
06 Noise
Noise and comfort remain important factors for UHP tires, as drivers prioritize a balanced experience that combines performance with daily comfort on different road surfaces. The Hankook iON evo led at 68.6 dB, just 0.2 dB lower than the Goodyear Eagle F1 at 68.8 dB and 0.4 dB lower than the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 at 69 dB. All tires are very quiet.
