Overseas Demand Drives China Tire Exports
Recently, the tire export data for May 2025 released by the General Administration of Customs has attracted widespread attention in the industry.
In that month, China's total rubber tire exports soared to 860,000 tons, an increase of 11.5% year-on-year, an increase of 70,000 tons compared with April, and the export value reached 15.178 billion yuan, an increase of 11.7% year-on-year. Among them, the export volume of new pneumatic rubber tires was 830,000 tons, an increase of 11.3% year-on-year, and the export value was about 14.562 billion yuan, an increase of 11.6% year-on-year.
Calculated by the number of pieces, the export volume of new pneumatic rubber tires in May was 61.82 million pieces, an increase of 4.43 million pieces from the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 9.7%. From the data, the export volume and amount of tires in May exceeded 11% year-on-year.
This significant growth completely reversed the previous trend of moderate growth, clearly reflecting that overseas market demand is recovering strongly, which undoubtedly brought significant benefits to related companies.
Looking back at the previous few months, although the tire export data has increased, it is relatively mild. From January to April, the export growth rate of rubber tires was 6.2%, and the export growth rate of automobile tires was 5.6%. The data in May was like a shot in the arm, which gave the entire industry a boost.
There are many deep-seated reasons behind this change. From the perspective of the global economic environment, with the acceleration of economic recovery in some countries and regions, consumer purchasing power has gradually increased, and the number of cars in use has continued to rise, which has directly driven the demand for tire replacement market.
At the same time, the infrastructure construction in emerging market countries has continued to advance, the logistics industry has flourished, and the demand for commercial vehicles has surged, which in turn has driven the export of truck and bus tires.
From the perspective of the development of the domestic tire industry itself, continuous technological innovation and product upgrades over the years have made Chinese tires increasingly competitive in the international market. Domestic companies have continuously increased their investment in research and development and launched a series of high-performance, low-energy consumption, and long-life tire products, which not only meet the stringent requirements of developed countries such as Europe and the United States for product quality and environmental performance, but also occupy a place in emerging markets with their high cost-effectiveness.
In addition, Chinese tire companies are actively expanding overseas market channels, and further improving the market coverage and brand awareness of their products by establishing localized sales teams and in-depth cooperation with local dealers.
The positive export data is of great significance to domestic tire companies. The substantial increase in the number of orders has significantly improved the utilization rate of enterprise capacity, fully exerted the scale effect, reduced the unit production cost, and effectively expanded the profit margin of enterprises.
This provides a solid financial guarantee for enterprises to further increase R&D investment, optimize production equipment, and expand market channels, which will help enterprises gain a foothold in the international market and achieve sustainable development.
Looking ahead, if overseas market demand continues to pick up, China's tire exports are expected to continue to grow. However, the industry also faces some potential challenges, such as fluctuations in raw material prices and international trade frictions.
Therefore, tire companies need to continue to pay attention to market trends, strengthen cost control, increase product added value, actively respond to various uncertainties, and firmly grasp the development opportunities brought about by the recovery of overseas market demand.
