Tire pressure monitoring: the first line of defense for driving safety

The tread pattern is the "lifeline" of the tire, and its three core functions are indispensable: improving grip to ensure the braking and acceleration performance of the vehicle on dry and wet roads; reducing noise, dispersing sound waves through the pattern design to reduce tire noise during driving; increasing drainage, quickly draining water through the pattern grooves on rainy days to prevent slipping caused by the water film effect. However, during driving, the tread pattern is very easy to embed small stones, glass fragments, metal particles and other foreign objects. If not cleaned in time, it will bring many hidden dangers.
Small stones stuck in the pattern grooves for a long time will gradually wear the rubber at the bottom of the grooves, causing the pattern depth to become shallow, affecting drainage and grip. Sharp foreign objects may even pierce the tread and cause slow air leakage.
The correct method should be used to clean foreign objects from the tread: for smaller stones, you can use a key or a special cleaning tool to gently pry them out along the groove direction to avoid damaging the rubber with vertical force; if there are many stones in the groove, you can first reduce the tire pressure appropriately, use the elasticity of the rubber to loosen the stones and then re-inflate them to the standard pressure.
Special reminder: after passing through construction sites, rural dirt roads or muddy sections, be sure to carefully check the tread, clean up embedded foreign objects in time, and clean up the mud and sand attached to the sidewalls to prevent corrosive substances from long-term attachment and damage to the rubber.
Wear degree inspection: grasp the timing of replacement
The wear degree of the tire directly reflects its service life. Regular inspection of the wear condition can effectively avoid safety hazards. The tread depth is an important indicator. The national standard stipulates that passenger car tires must be replaced when the tread depth is less than 1.6 mm.
For daily inspection, you can use a special tread depth gauge, or you can use a simple method: insert the edge of a one-yuan coin into the tread groove. The cause should be checked and repaired in time.
