Vietnam Tire Plant Ships First PCR Batch
Recently, a tire manufacturing base in Vietnam made new progress – the first batch of products from its PCR (passenger car tire) project was officially shipped, marking a key step in the factory's overseas passenger car tire business and laying an important foundation for its global production capacity layout.
Why Vietnam?
In recent years, Southeast Asia has become a popular investment destination for global tire companies. Vietnam, with its geographical advantages, favorable investment policies, lower production and logistics costs, and a growing automotive market, has attracted numerous manufacturing companies to set up operations there.
To encourage manufacturing, the local government has introduced support measures including long-term tax exemptions and land rent reductions, while continuously improving infrastructure such as roads and ports, gradually building a stable and friendly industrial environment.
The PCR project, which achieved its first shipment, has a total investment of approximately US$228 million and a designed annual production capacity of 6 million passenger car tires, mainly covering tires for economy cars, SUVs, and light crossover vehicles.
Choosing to commence production at this time aligns perfectly with regional market demand—data shows that Vietnam's passenger car tire exports have been steadily increasing, reaching US$1.023 billion in 2024 and further rising to US$1.039 billion in the first 11 months of 2025, demonstrating its growing market potential.
From Production to Export: How to Achieve "From 0 to 1"?
The first shipment may seem like a milestone, but behind it lies a breakthrough across the entire process, from production line debugging and quality control to logistics and shipping. Lacking precedents, the project team independently explored container loading solutions, ensuring safe and efficient transportation.
In the production process, big data and AI technologies were introduced to build a comprehensive quality control system from raw materials to finished products, ensuring that products meet international standards.
More Than Just the "First Shipment": Industry Significance and Future Outlook
The successful shipment of this first shipment not only represents a key breakthrough for the factory's PCR products "from production to sales," but also improves its product matrix, forming a multi-category tire collaborative production pattern.
From an industry impact perspective, the project's launch and production further promote the application of China's intelligent tire manufacturing technology in Southeast Asia, helping the regional tire industry upgrade towards green and intelligent manufacturing.
It is understood that the first shipment of products is mainly destined for surrounding Southeast Asian markets, with plans to gradually expand to Europe and the United States in the future. Leveraging Vietnam's free trade agreement advantages, the project effectively circumvents international trade barriers and enhances the international competitiveness of its products.
With the successful shipment of the first shipment, the factory will gradually release the PCR project's production capacity, continuously optimize production processes, improve product quality, and strengthen overseas market channels.
While cultivating the local Southeast Asian market, it will also expand its reach to more regions globally. In the future, the factory will adhere to compliant operating principles, relying on Vietnam's local industrial advantages and policy support to promote the steady development of its passenger car tire business, contributing to the optimization and improvement of the global tire supply chain and supporting regional manufacturing upgrades and economic development.
The successful completion of this first shipment also injects strong momentum into its subsequent globalization strategy, marking the beginning of a new journey for its overseas passenger car tire business.
