Tire Label Guide
Whether you sell or buy tires, this complete list of labels is enough! (This article takes Wanli SU009 as an example)
1. Tire label The tire label can be regarded as the "identity card" of a tire. There are two types: color and black and white. In addition to some basic information such as tire brand name, specifications, and origin, the most important information on the label is the anti-counterfeiting code such as QR code and barcode certificate. Digital popularization can check the authenticity with one click.
2. Brand name The brand name is presented in the form of English letters on the sidewall of the tire and is the largest in the logo. The brand name of Wanli tire in the figure below is displayed as "WANLI RANGE A/T²" SU009 is its pattern name
3. Tire specifications The general passenger car tire specifications are expressed as: the percentage of section width/aspect ratio in millimeters + tire type code + rim diameter (inches) + load index (allowable load mass code) + allowable speed code, such as the radial passenger car tire specification expression: "XXX/XX RXX".
For example, Wanli specification: 265/65R17 112S: 265 represents the tire width of 265MM, 65 represents the tire section aspect ratio of 65%, that is, the ratio of section height to width is 65%, rim diameter: 17 inches, heavy load index: 112, speed grade: S grade, carcass structure mark: R represents radial tire.
In addition, 112 represents the medium index, which represents the maximum weight that the tire can carry. Generally, the larger the index, the better.
The following figure is a comparison table of some commonly used tire load indexes. In addition, there is MAX LOAD: 1120kg on the sidewall, which also represents the maximum load of the tire; below it, MAX PRESS is the maximum tire pressure value of 300kPa.
4. 3T index 3T index is TREADWEAR wear resistance index, TRACTION (traction index) TEMPERATURE (temperature index), and the value behind it also represents the performance of the tire.
The 3T index of Wanli's tire is: TREADWEAR 500, TRACTION A, TEMPERATURE B. The tire wear index is generally between 160-540. The higher the value, the more wear-resistant the tire is. The wear index of Wanli's tire is 500, which means that this tire is 500% of the wear resistance of the standard tire.
Of course, the wear resistance of the tire cannot be based solely on the wear resistance value, but also on the road conditions and driving habits. The traction index is divided into four levels: AA, A, B, and C, with AA being the highest level; the high temperature resistance index is divided into three levels: A, B, and C, with A being the highest level
5. Carcass structure SIDEWALL PLIES: 2 POLYESTER TREAD PLIES: 2 POLYESTER+2 STEEL+1 NYLON means: Sidewall structure: 2 layers of polyester fiber Crown structure: 2 layers of polyester fiber + 2 layers of steel wire + 1 layer of nylon
6. DOT certification The DOT on the tire sidewall is a certification of the US Department of Transportation, which is the English abbreviation of Department of Transportation. The other is 3C certification, the full name is "China Compulsory Product Certification", the English name is China Compulsory Certification, the English abbreviation is CCC.
7. Tire production date The tire production date is generally marked in a long oval frame. For example, if the production date of this Wanli tire is marked as 5222, the last two digits "22" represent the production year of 2022, and the first two digits "52" represent the production of 52 weeks in 2022. It is worth noting that the storage time of tires should not exceed 3 years. When purchasing tires, you can also check whether they are inventory tires by the production date.
8. M+S
The M+S logo on the tire is the abbreviation of the words mud and snow, which means mud and snow. Mud means "mud" and snow means "snowflakes".
Tires marked with M+S can be driven in mud and snow. Such tires can overcome muddy and icy roads because such tire patterns have better drainage performance and can adapt to cold weather. They are winter and summer tires.
9. Radial TubelessRADIAL TUBELESS is a tubeless radial tire, also called atomic tire or vacuum tire, with good driving stability. This tire uses the airtight layer of the tire inner wall and tire bead to ensure good airtightness between the tire and the rim.
It has an inner tube structure, and the air is filled in the tire. The outer tire also serves as the inner tube. It has high precision, light weight, good balance, long life, and relatively high safety factor!
