2026 Natural Rubber Industry Development Conference Held in Kunming

On October 30, the 2026 Natural Rubber Industry Development Conference was held in Kunming, hosted by the China Natural Rubber Association and Yunnan Provincial Agricultural Development (Yunnan State Farms) Group. Over 400 domestic and international industry experts, scholars, and representatives from the International Rubber Research and Development Board, Cote d'Ivoire, and other countries and regions attended the conference to discuss industry development strategies and explore new avenues for win-win cooperation.

Natural rubber is a critical strategic material vital to national economy, defense industry, and national security. The conference, themed "Technology Empowerment, Ecological Leadership, Industry Win-Win: A New Journey for High-Quality Development of China's Natural Rubber Industry," aimed to build a collaborative platform connecting government, research institutions, market entities, financial institutions, and international partners, promoting deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application.

Academic Leadership and Parallel Forums

During the conference, Zhang Liqun, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Du Guanben, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chairman of the Yunnan Association for Science and Technology, delivered keynote speeches on technology breakthroughs, achievement transformation, ecological development, and resource sharing. The national chief scientist for natural rubber industry and heads of international industry organizations presented reports on industry technology system development, futures markets empowering the real economy, and global rubber market cooperation.

The conference featured three parallel forums: "Technology for Rubber and Green Planting," "Technological Innovation and Intelligent Manufacturing," and "Market Analysis and Futures Empowerment," organized respectively by the Yunnan Institute of Tropical Crops, Yunnan Natural Rubber Industry Group, and Shanghai Futures Exchange, covering the entire chain from planting and processing to market trading.

In technological innovation, the group is advancing tapping robots, rubber air springs, low-odor long-life rubber tracks, and a 6,000-ton premium specialty ribbed smoked sheet project, with plans for a 10,000-ton specialty natural rubber standardization processing facility.

In farmer support, the group has promoted "insurance + futures" and "over-the-counter options" pilot programs, with cumulative assistance disbursements exceeding 50 million yuan benefiting over 90,000 rubber farmers. The group has driven individual rubber farmers in Jiangcheng, Mojiang, Ximeng, and Jinping counties to plant rubber on over 1 million mu, creating employment for over 6,000 people.
