China's domestically produced "automatic transmission" high-horsepower tractor enters mass production in Xinjiang, breaking decades of foreign monopoly.
On October 16, at the workshop of CRCC Heavy Industry Xinjiang Co., Ltd., multiple full-power-shift high-horsepower tractors were undergoing orderly assembly operations. In late September, the product was officially rolled off the production line and batch-released to the market. CRCC Heavy Industry Xinjiang thus became the first enterprise in China to mass-produce full-power-shift high-horsepower tractors, breaking a foreign monopoly in this technology field lasting decades.
Full power shift can be understood as "automatic transmission" for agricultural machinery. When ordinary tractors pull heavy loads in fields, gear shifting causes power interruption and vehicle stalling, greatly reducing operational efficiency. The core of full power shift is that power is not interrupted during gear changes. During operation, the computer automatically controls the hydraulic system based on vehicle speed and load, and the hydraulic system controls the clutch, thereby completing automatic gear shifting. The driver only needs to press the upshift or downshift button on the joystick.
Li Jun, Deputy General Manager of CRCC Heavy Industry Xinjiang, introduced that this tractor has over a dozen clutches inside. When shifting, the system must precisely control "which clutch to fill with oil, at what curve speed to fill oil, and how the clutch releases oil according to the curve," requiring extremely high matching precision.
Li Jun introduced that the electrical system, hydraulic system selection and matching, and control logic of this tractor were all independently completed by the enterprise. Foreign companies have mastered this technology for decades. Domestic leading agricultural machinery enterprises began tackling it over a decade ago, and CRCC Heavy Industry Xinjiang took the lead in achieving batch sales of large-horsepower products in China.
CRCC Heavy Industry Xinjiang was established in Urumqi in 2015 and has now built a comprehensive product matrix covering cotton harvesters, grain harvesters, power machinery, silage harvesters, special harvesters, and other agricultural equipment. It has developed over 20 models of high-end intelligent agricultural machinery products, with all control systems, controllers, software, and algorithms being self-developed.
Behind the technological breakthrough is sustained R&D investment and collaborative innovation. CRCC Heavy Industry Xinjiang's R&D investment accounts for approximately 8% of operating revenue. The enterprise has accumulated nearly 300 patents, with invention patents accounting for over 40%. This year, the company increased its R&D personnel to over 120, focusing on strengthening electrical control software and hydraulic control capabilities, and recruiting cross-industry talent from the robotics and automotive industries.
As an agricultural machinery chain leader enterprise, the company will actively promote joint R&D and joint experiments among all parties, leveraging the modern industrial system to push forward the high-quality development of the agricultural equipment manufacturing industry.
