Domestic Tire Technology Breakthrough Solves the Dilemma of Electric Vehicle Tires
Previously, the pain points of electric vehicle tires—"not durable and high cost"—had long plagued car owners. Foreign brands dominated the market due to their technological monopoly, with a single 18-inch electric vehicle tire typically costing 1500-2500 yuan, and showing significant wear after only 20,000-30,000 kilometers.
Since 2025, domestic brands such as Linglong, Sailun, and Chaoyang have achieved systematic breakthroughs in wear-resistant formulas, lightweighting, and quiet operation, completely disrupting the industry landscape and ushering in a "high-performance, cost-effective era" for electric vehicle tires.
The innovation in wear-resistant formulas directly addresses the core pain points. Electric vehicles, due to the 300-500 kg increase in battery weight and the 2-3 times instantaneous torque of their motors compared to gasoline vehicles, have far higher requirements for tire wear resistance.
Sailun Group, through its world-first liquid-phase mixing technology, uses liquid gold molecules to replace traditional carbon black, boosting the tire wear index to 600, far exceeding Michelin's 520 for comparable products, with a tested lifespan of 150,000 kilometers, 50% higher than foreign competitors.
The Linglong SPORT MASTER e series, relying on its proprietary rubber compound, boasts a wear index of 500. Proven through 100,000 kilometers of road testing, its lifespan is significantly longer, fundamentally solving the problem of rapid tire wear in electric vehicles.
Lightweighting and low rolling resistance technology synergistically improve range. Domestic tire manufacturers have built a dual-drive system of "compound + structure." Linglong's low rolling resistance compound (LRR) reduces internal friction in rubber molecular chains by over 30%. Combined with optimized structure using high-modulus, low-shrinkage tire materials, this results in a 23% reduction in energy consumption and an 8% increase in range for vehicles equipped with it.
The Sentury 990 series, through material optimization, achieves a 0.8 kWh reduction in energy consumption per 100 kilometers. Based on an annual mileage of 20,000 kilometers, this translates to an annual electricity cost saving of 1200 yuan, reducing tire weight and alleviating the burden on electric vehicle range.
Upgraded noise reduction technology optimizes the driving experience. Compared to gasoline-powered vehicles, electric vehicles lack the natural shielding of engine noise, allowing tire and road noise to penetrate directly into the cabin, becoming a core weakness affecting ride comfort, especially at high speeds and on rough roads.
To address this issue, domestic brands have developed a variety of targeted technological solutions: The Chaoyang No. 1 EV PRO innovatively incorporates high-silica elastomers and nano-level reinforcing materials, optimizing the flexibility of rubber molecules to buffer road impacts.
Real-world testing shows that in-car noise is 3-5 decibels lower than imported tires in the same price range, effectively reducing low-frequency noise interference during urban commuting and highway driving.
The Mount Everest Pivot tire features an internal polyurethane sound-absorbing cotton design. Its porous structure absorbs noise generated by tire vibration, reducing noise by 5 decibels compared to ordinary electric vehicle tires at 100km/h. Combined with self-healing coating technology, it balances quiet performance with driving safety, reducing the risk of punctures.
Furthermore, domestic tire manufacturers have enhanced noise reduction through tread design. By using staggered-frequency turbulence patterns to disperse noise generated by air turbulence, and employing three-dimensional groove design to optimize drainage efficiency, prevent hydroplaning on wet surfaces, and further reduce noise from tire-road friction.
Linglong's related products have achieved a 0.33-meter reduction in wet braking distance compared to international competitors in real-world testing, realizing a dual improvement in both noise reduction and driving safety, precisely meeting the dual needs of electric vehicle users for comfort and safety.
Technological breakthroughs have led to cost reductions. Relying on intelligent factories and a fully self-reliant supply chain, domestic tires are priced 30%-40% lower than comparable foreign tires, with four practical tires available for as little as 1000 yuan.
From reliance on imports to technology export, domestic tire manufacturers have demonstrated through test data that the "high price for durability" curse can be broken without sacrificing performance, reducing electric vehicle maintenance costs and injecting momentum into the upgrading of the new energy vehicle industry chain.
