The Bohai Bay Port general cargo route to the Americas has been launched.
Recently, after the "Yan Cheng" ship completed its operation of 15,000 tons of general cargo at the Weifang Port Area of Bohai Bay Port in Shandong Port, it set sail for Mexico. This marked the official opening of the general cargo America route by Bohai Bay Port, further improving the layout of foreign trade general cargo routes. It has established a new maritime logistics channel directly connecting enterprises in the hinterland to the American market, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of regional foreign trade.
The inaugural shipment consisted of incremental cargo sourced from outside Shandong Province. The Bohai Bay Port marketing team broke through traditional regional limitations on cargo sources, upheld the principles of source expansion and precise docking, and fully utilized the efficient and low-cost advantages of multimodal transport. They designed an integrated logistics chain for enterprises involving "rail to terminal, road transport to port, and sea transport overseas," streamlining the entire logistics channel from external provincial cargo sources to the American market. This has strongly contributed to extending, supplementing, and strengthening the general cargo supply chain at Bohai Bay Port.

To ensure the efficient execution of the maiden voyage, multiple departments at the port area collaborated and implemented a special "one ship, one policy" safeguard scheme. The team continuously optimized the railway cargo handling process at the port, upgraded the railway unloading organizational model, minimized cargo storage and wait times, and eliminated bottlenecks in transporting goods from the railway to the port storage area. Each operational segment was closely coordinated, with comprehensive management of cargo gathering at the port, tallying, storage, and ship loading processes. This meticulous control of loading and unloading operations ensured the efficient collection and smooth loading of tens of thousands of tons of cargo, guaranteeing that the maiden voyage ship departed on schedule with robust services.
The launch of the new route is a pragmatic measure by Bohai Bay Port to deeply integrate into the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative and support the stable growth of foreign trade. The route relies on stable liner services to provide more efficient and convenient export options for foreign trade enterprises outside Shandong Province, further enriching Bohai Bay Port's foreign trade general cargo route network and continuously strengthening the port's comprehensive hub functions. Next, Bohai Bay Port will continue to cultivate the foreign trade general cargo market, enhance the advantages of its multimodal transport system combining rail, road, and water, expand incremental cargo sources, extend the foreign trade supply chain, assist the real economy in optimizing quality and efficiency, and support more domestic goods in setting sail for global markets.
