Zoomlion Unveils 1,600-HP Super Large Hybrid Tractor 9DX, Setting New World Record
On October 26, at the 2026 China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition, Zoomlion globally launched the super large horsepower hybrid tractor 9DX, with a peak power of 1,600 horsepower, setting a new industry record and showcasing a new height for Chinese agricultural machinery to the world.
The 9DX is designed for high-difficulty, high-intensity operational scenarios on ultra-large-scale farms. Its digital chassis, core components, and control systems are all independently developed by Zoomlion. The machine achieves significant improvements in traction, power response, fuel economy, and field adaptability compared to similar models, meeting the continuous heavy-load operational demands of large-scale agricultural production.
In terms of core technology and key performance indicators, the 9DX reaches industry-leading levels. It adopts super-large horsepower hybrid continuously variable transmission (CVT) technology, with a peak torque of 7,200 Nm and a maximum speed of 40 km/h, capable of operating on slopes of 12 degrees or more. Powered by an 800V dual-motor coupling system, overall operational efficiency is improved by 10%-15%. The hydraulic output flow reaches 636 L/min, meeting the combined operation demands of ultra-wide seeders, large land preparation equipment, and variable-rate fertilizer applicators. The machine uses four-track drive with self-developed 762mm wide tracks, effectively reducing soil surface compaction damage.
This is not Zoomlion's first time setting this world record. One year earlier, its 1,200-horsepower DX7004 had already pushed the domestic tractor power ceiling to the global highest at that time. For a long period, the market for high-end tractors above 300 horsepower was monopolized by international giants such as John Deere, Fendt, CLAAS, Case, and New Holland. Continuously variable transmission and high-end hydraulic systems have been "bottleneck" challenges for Chinese agricultural machinery.
To break through this challenge, Zoomlion chose a "lane-changing overtaking" strategy, bypassing the traditional diesel engine path and developing hybrid electric drive architectures. Industry experts evaluated that the 9DX "achieves an overtaking of international brands, fills the gap in domestic super-large horsepower tractors, and breaks the long-term monopoly of foreign brands in this market."
In the first quarter of 2026, Zoomlion's agricultural machinery business achieved significant year-on-year growth in Europe and America, with high-end large-horsepower tractors growing by 20%. The company's exploration from 2023's world-first new energy agricultural machinery, to the first 400-HP hybrid tractor, to the world's first series hybrid harvester debuted at the German Hannover agricultural machinery exhibition, to the 350-HP hybrid tractor nominated for the 2027 European Tractor of the Year award in two categories, to the 700-HP hybrid tractor setting a new industry benchmark, and now this 1,600-HP technological breakthrough, demonstrates step-by-step advancement and continuous leadership on the global stage.
