In China's agricultural machinery industry, there has long been a tacit "ceiling": the core transmission technology of high-horsepower tractors could not be made in China. Since 2020, among the 2,797 full power-shift tractors sold domestically, almost all came from foreign brands such as Case New Holland, John Deere, Deutz-Fahr, and Claas. The China Agricultural Machinery Industry Association once admitted that China annually imported over a thousand large-horsepower tractors.
The transmission is the "lifeline" of high-horsepower tractors. Small-horsepower tractors have low power and simple working conditions, where mechanical transmission suffices; large-horsepower models have high power and complex operating conditions, requiring multi-speed heavy-duty transmissions, with the most advanced power-shift products exceeding 50 gears. This technical barrier kept Chinese agricultural machinery companies out of the high-end market.
In February 2026, this situation was broken. Zhongnong Boding Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. officially launched a full series of HMCVT (Hydraulic Mechanical Continuously Variable Transmission) intelligent tractors, covering 100 to 1,000 horsepower, with 100% self-developed core components and 100% localization rate. The 1,000-horsepower model, to be unveiled at the China International Agricultural Machinery Exhibition in Tianjin, is particularly noteworthy — it not only fills the domestic market gap for full-power-segment HMCVT tractors but also marks the first time a Chinese agricultural machinery enterprise possesses a complete independent technology system in the high-end super-large-horsepower tractor powertrain field.
Globally, brands capable of mass-producing near this power range are extremely rare. John Deere's latest 9RX 830 reaches 913 horsepower, priced over USD 1.2 million. The Zhongnong Boding 1,000-horsepower model features a self-developed 6BD57 engine and self-developed HMCVT chassis, with a full-frame articulated body and four-track walking structure, equipped with 320kN super-large traction force and electronically controlled intelligent hydraulic system.
HMCVT is hailed as the "crown of technology" in the agricultural machinery industry. Its core principle achieves full-speed-range continuously variable speed regulation through the splitting, convergence, and stepless adjustment of hydraulic and mechanical power flows, avoiding the power interruption and impact of traditional mechanical gear shifting. The engineering implementation is extremely complex, requiring deep accumulation in mechanical design, hydraulic control, electronic control, and thermal management simultaneously.
The 1,000-horsepower model targets the most demanding operating scenarios in Northeast and North China large-scale farmland, including heavy-duty deep plowing, wasteland improvement, and heavy-load land preparation. Its significance goes far beyond a single high-power machine — it proves that Chinese enterprises can complete original R&D from 0 to 1 in the high-end power transmission field, breaking a decades-long foreign monopoly on large-horsepower tractor core technology.
This platform focuses on the import and export of Chinese automotive equipment, gathering hundreds of certified Chinese automotive suppliers and connecting with global buyers. The platform achieves full transaction transparency, expands diverse cooperation opportunities, and helps both domestic and foreign parties build deep and stable cooperation bonds. Whether you are looking for vehicle manufacturers, purchasing automotive parts, or need customized procurement solutions, CNAUTO is your trusted first choice for cooperation.
