The China Classification Society has published a translation of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships 2022 (MARPOL 2022).
Recently, the Chinese translation of the "International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships 2022 (MARPOL 2022)" by the China Classification Society was officially published by the People's Transportation Press.
The "International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships" (referred to as the MARPOL Convention) is one of the core international conventions developed under the leadership of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). It is an international regulation focused on preventing pollution from ships. As a "weathervane" in the field of international maritime environmental protection, every update to the MARPOL Convention influences the development direction of the global shipping industry.
Since its initial adoption in 1973, the MARPOL Convention has undergone multiple revisions and improvements. The recently translated and published "International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships 2022 (MARPOL 2022)" is the 2022 consolidated text of the convention, incorporating all amendments effective as of November 1, 2022. It covers six core annexes: regulations for the prevention of oil pollution, regulations for controlling pollution by noxious liquid substances in bulk, regulations for the prevention of pollution by harmful substances carried by sea in packaged form, regulations for the prevention of pollution by sewage from ships, regulations for the prevention of pollution by garbage from ships, and regulations for the prevention of air pollution from ships.
